What you need
- Fire TV Stick (2nd generation or newer), Fire TV Stick 4K/4K Max, Fire TV Cube or a Fire TV smart TV
- Fire OS kept up to date (Settings → My Fire TV → About → Check for Updates)
- A stable connection — 25 Mbps or faster is a sensible minimum for HD; use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band or an Ethernet adapter where possible
- Your Sonix account or trial details
Recommended player apps
These players are made by independent developers and are not affiliated with Sonix. Pick one — you only need one.
Install the player
- 1From the Fire TV home screen, open Find → Search and type the name of the player app you want.
- 2If the app appears in the Amazon Appstore, select Get or Download and wait for it to install. This is the safest route and keeps the app updated automatically.
- 3If the app isn’t in the Appstore in your region, check the developer’s official website for supported install methods. Never download APK files from mirror sites, forums or video descriptions.
- 4Only if you deliberately install from a developer’s website: go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options and allow installation for the app you use to download. On newer Fire OS versions, Developer Options appears after selecting your device name seven times in Settings → My Fire TV → About.
- 5When the player is installed, return to Developer Options and switch app installs back off if you no longer need them.
Sign in with your Sonix details
Your account or trial email contains everything you need. Keep it open on your phone while you type.
- 1Open the player app and choose to add a new playlist or user.
- 2If the app offers “Xtream Codes” (sometimes labelled “Xtream API” or “Login with Xtream”), choose it and enter the server URL, username and password exactly as written in your account details — they are case-sensitive.
- 3If you were given an M3U link instead, choose “M3U URL” or “Playlist URL” and paste the full link.
- 4Give the playlist a name you’ll recognise (for example “Sonix”) and save. The first load can take a minute while channels and categories download.
Supported login methods
Xtream Codes API
Server URL, username and password. Loads live TV, movies, series and the program guide in one step.
M3U playlist URL
A single playlist link. Widely supported; the program guide (EPG) is usually added as a separate XMLTV link.
Your account details tell you which method to use. If you’re unsure, ask support.
Set up the TV guide (EPG)
- With an Xtream Codes login, the program guide normally loads automatically — open the TV Guide or EPG view after the first sync.
- With an M3U login, add the EPG (XMLTV) link from your account details in the app’s EPG or TV Guide settings, if your plan provides one.
- If guide data is missing, set the app’s time zone to your local zone and refresh the EPG. Guide data can take several minutes to download on first use.
Common problems on Firestick
Video stutters on Wi-Fi
Move the router closer or use the included HDMI extender, switch to 5 GHz, or add an Ethernet adapter. Restart the stick from Settings → My Fire TV → Restart.
Low storage warnings
Clear the player app’s cache in Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications. Remove apps you no longer use.
