What you need
- Windows 10 or Windows 11
- VLC from videolan.org or the Microsoft Store, or another IPTV player
- Your Sonix account or trial details
Recommended player apps
These players are made by independent developers and are not affiliated with Sonix. Pick one — you only need one.
Install the player
- 1Download VLC from the official site (videolan.org) or install it from the Microsoft Store.
- 2For a channel guide, install a Windows IPTV player from the Microsoft Store or the developer’s official website.
Sign in with your Sonix details
Your account or trial email contains everything you need. Keep it open on your phone while you type.
- 1In VLC, open Media → Open Network Stream, paste your M3U link and select Play. Open View → Playlist to browse channels.
- 2In a dedicated player, add a new profile with Xtream Codes and enter the server URL, username and password.
Supported login methods
M3U playlist URL
A single playlist link. Widely supported; the program guide (EPG) is usually added as a separate XMLTV link.
Xtream Codes API
Server URL, username and password. Loads live TV, movies, series and the program guide in one step.
Your account details tell you which method to use. If you’re unsure, ask support.
Set up the TV guide (EPG)
- VLC doesn’t display an EPG grid. Use a dedicated player such as Kodi with the PVR IPTV Simple Client for guide data.
- With an M3U login, add the EPG (XMLTV) link from your account details in the app’s EPG or TV Guide settings, if your plan provides one.
- If guide data is missing, set the app’s time zone to your local zone and refresh the EPG. Guide data can take several minutes to download on first use.
Common problems on Windows
VLC takes long to open the playlist
Large playlists are slow to parse in VLC. Use a dedicated IPTV player for everyday viewing.
Firewall prompt
Allow the player on private networks when Windows asks. Never disable your firewall entirely.
